John Sciorra, partner, is senior technologist and project manager at Catalytic Group. John has over twenty years of industry experience in Internet and related technologies.
Beginning his career at Bloomberg Financial Markets, John developed high-speed, large-volume, database-driven applications from scratch without the aid of many of the off-the-shelf environments that can bootstrap such projects today. After Bloomberg, he became a technical lead and project manager for Small World Software, a first-wave Silicon Alley startup, working with clients such as CNN/SI, Xerox, Lockheed Martin, and Harpers Magazine. When Small World was acquired by digital integrator iXL, John became its first Vice President of Technology at its New York office, where he led all architecture and software development. Clients included GE, Chase, Sony, Toys "R" Us, and NBC. Increasingly fascinated by the possibilities of broadband networks, John became VP Media and Entertainment, managing teams providing solutions for Sony, Time Inc., Financial Times, Thompson Publications, and Lamaze.
John worked as interim CTO for Digital Club Network, with responsibilities that included managing technical strategy, Web site production, Network Operations, and R&D efforts related to streaming technology.
John has served on Microsoft's Internet Advisory Board, a unique opportunity for a select group of Internet Content and Solutions Providers to influence the direction and features of future Microsoft products. He also served on the technical advisory board of MOUSE (Making Opportunities for Upgrading Schools & Education).
John has B.S. degrees in both Electrical Engineering (high honors) and Physics (Magna Cum Laude) from Binghamton University.
